Please note that SLL will be conducting the Spring 2015 tryouts for the Atlantic League (5th and 6th Graders) and Travel Baseball (5th- 8th Graders) in the Fall.  Getting a jump start on the process will help the League better prepare for the Spring season and give the players a better opportunity to make decisions about their Spring plans.

Travel teams for 5th and 6th graders each will consist of between 12 – 14 players selected based on the tryout results.  All travel players in the 5th and 6th grades MUST play on an Atlantic League team in addition to their travel team (with some latitude on practice attendance).  Any player who does not try out on the tryout dates designated by the league’s Board will be assigned to the Pacific League.

Registration is now open for all grades (K – 8).

Best of luck -

When and Where?
Tryouts will be held on Sunday, November 16th and November 23th at the Brunswick School – 1252 King Street, Greenwich CT.  Each night of tryouts will begin at 4:00 PM and run until 9 PM (see below for schedule).  Note that this is a new location for the tryouts.

Players scheduled for the first session – 4:00 PM time slot – must arrive at the school no later than 3:30 PM for registration and warm up. Players scheduled for the second session – 5:45 PM- must arrive no later than 5:15 PM for registration and warm up.

Who should attend?

All players wishing to play in the Atlantic League (5th and 6th graders) and all 5th-8th graders who would like to play on a Travel team are required to attend the two (2) tryout sessions. If a player cannot attend one (1) session or both sessions, that will be addressed individually.  For parents of 4th graders, we would suggest that you save the dates below on your calendar.    We are applying for the approval for a 4th grade travel team in the Spring.  If we get approval we will also be asking 4th graders interested in trying out for the 4th grade travel team to attend these tryout sessions.  Please stay tuned.

Parents may not remain within the facility during tryouts.

What to Bring and Wear?

Players should bring a glove, bat (if they want), and water. Cleats are not allowed in the gym. Prior Scarsdale Travel and club team (e.g., House of Sports, Pro Swing,  Hardball, Frozen Ropes, etc.) uniforms, hats, and gear are not allowed. Players violating this rule will be asked to remove the item(s). Please dress your child in layers.

Checking in

Only registered players may participate and will be provided with a numbered bib to wear for identification. If you have not registered, please do so by November the 9th.

Please arrive 30-minutes prior to your tryout session for processing and to allow time to warm up.

Evaluations

Players will be evaluated on several skills—including hitting, fielding, throwing and speed by third-party professionals. Additionally, players may be voluntarily evaluated on either pitching or catching.
