Field Closings/Weather

IN THE EVENT OF POOR WEATHER:

SLL will make a decision (as early as practical) as to whether or not fields will be open for games or practices.  This decision will be communicated to the Grade Coordinators who will in turn inform their respective managers and coaches.  Parents can also check the SLL website for weather updates.

In the event that the weather turns after a game or practice has started a decision will have to be made on the field.  In those situations, the umpire/managers/coaches should use their best judgement in determining whether to continue play.   Safety is our priority and should override all other considerations. In some cases the fields will reopen yet managers may still encounter areas with poor drainage. Only in extreme situations should they attempt repairs.  This can be done with a simple push broom or rake.  Any attempts to sweep water off base paths should be done without sweeping the water/dirt onto the grass (as this kills the grass).
Further, in NO circumstances should they attempt to add fill or other foreign substances to displace water or to dry wet surfaces.
SLL does have a supply of diamond dust which will be distributed when necessary through the grade coordinators.

To all parents and Coaches.

The Scarsdale Little League would like to inform you of our formal recommendation regarding weather conditions that include thunder and lightning.  As this weather condition can occur independent of heavy, or any rain, we are taking the precautionary step of imposing a 20 minute wait-period, subsequent to any thunder.Teams may begin or resume play only after this wait period.  Further thunder sounding will necessitate additional 20 minute delays.  All
players should be kept off fields and in dugouts or in cars during this
waiting period.

Please use your best judgment as player safety is a primary goal of our
organization.

Scarsdale Little League Board
